Madonna is directing her own biopic! Everything we know so far.

Welcome back on Blogger,

During a livestream on Instagram, Madonna has finally confirmed she is working on her own biopic! Let's discuss this fantastic news together!

BACKGROUND

In 2017, Universal announced that a biopic about Madonna supposedly titled "Blond Ambition" was in the works. The movie would have dealt with our Diva's rise to fame and early successes.

Following the announcement, Madonna tried to boycott the movie as the latter would have sold lies about her own life to the world: "Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries it is a charlatan and a fool. Looking for instant gratification without doing the work. This is a disease in our society".

Nothing has been said about Blond Ambition since.

WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

But let's get back to Madonna's own biopic. As I told you earlier, during a livestream Madonna shared some details about the movie:

  • The screenplay will be co-written with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody.
  • Madonna has written a scene about the making of the song Like a Prayer, with Patrick Leonard.
  • Another scene will feature Blond Ambition dancers Jose and Luis.
  • Iconic figures like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat will appear in the movie, along with Madonna's late beloved friend Martin Burgoyne, her sister Paula, Donna De Lory, Niki Haris and Debi Mazar. An important section of the movie will be set in the early 1980's.
  • Producer Amy Pascal said the movie will be about two hours long.
  • The movie won't be a musical but performances are going to be included.
  • Moments from Erotica, Evita and Ray of Light eras are going to be included.
  • Different actresses will portray Madonna.
  • Madonna would like to do a TV series but Diablo Cody definitely wants to do a movie.
  • Madonna has started following multiple actresses on Instagram, in specific Julia Garner, Florence Pugh, Haley Bennett, Riley Keough.
This movie, if done right, will introduce Madonna to a new generation. She is definitely working with talented people this time so my expectations are high. I hope the movie focuses on her struggles, her triumphs but most of all the music. Her art should be the star. Can't wait!

Let your body move to the music.

Music, movies, books to revisit during quarantine (Madonna Edition).

(Photo by Richard Corman, 1983) Welcome back on Blogger fans!  It's been a while since my last article and things have sadly changed since then. Covid-19 has impacted our lives deeply and I hope all of you are okay.  Since we have to stay at home, what better way to spend our time with our favorite Diva?  Here is a list of Madonna-related stuff that I think we should all revisit. Let's get into this article!  Madonna: Like an Icon  Originally published in 2007 by music critic Lucy O'Brien, this book is always a nice read as it not only chronicles the life and career of Madonna but also tells about O'Brien's experience as a fan, what she thought of Madonna initially and what made her change her mind for the best.  This book keeps on getting updated as Madonna's life and career progresses and a new edition is apparently coming this year. I highly recommend it. Bedtime Stories   One of Madonna's most underrated an...

Madonna and Old Hollywood: her finest inspiration.

(Madonna photographed by Steven Meisel, 1991) Welcome back on Blogger! Today I want to talk about one of Madonna's biggest inspirations: old Hollywood. I have always loved classic stars and movies myself so I am very happy to share this article with you. Let's get into it! (Madonna on the set of the Material Girl  music video) Madonna has often expressed admiration for legendary pop figures, not only actors and actresses but also films, with specific attention to the characters and their main trait, may it be wit, melancholia, romance, sensuality or ambiguity. Their style, beauty and overall uniqueness have been honored by Madonna through her music videos, performances and outfits. In particular, our Diva is great at giving new life to them, she is able to re-invent them in a new context, thus making them timeless. Marilyn Monroe is probably Madonna's biggest inspiration, aesthetically speaking. She has paid tribute to the blonde bombs...

Do you know Synthwave? A guide to one of the defining genres of this decade.

Welcome back on Blogger! Can you believe the 2010's are almost over? A very singular decade musically, it started off with the energetic and colorful "club boom" which sadly vanished sometime in 2013. After that it came the time for bubblegum pop, tropical house, mumble rap and reggaeton, right in this order. But there's one genre that has been slowly increasing its popularity since the start of the decade. That genre is synthwave.  In this article I'll do my best to introduce you to this curious musical genre. Let's go! What is synthwave? It is a genre of electronic music, inspired by movies and video games from the 1980's. It is also called outrun or retrowave. The first synthwave artists appeared in the mid 2000's but the genre became an underground sensation only in the early 2010's. Where can we find synthwave music? On YouTube there is a channel exclusively dedicated to synthwave. The channel is called "NewRetr...
